a new you.

Yesterday (it's after midnight), was my first official day off the cleanse. I woke up so eager and excited to eat something besides plain oatmeal and herbal tea. So what was the first thing I chose to eat after two weeks of consuming only vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and water? BREAD AND EGGS! I hadn't had one taste of bread or eggs in two weeks. And oh was it delicious? I had a few errands to do before work today, so I got a coke slurpee.. Two weeks without pop wasn't exactly a good time for me. ha! At work, I got chicken strips tossed in hot sauce, with fries. I know I know... coming off of a cleanse, you should go slow when introducing "toxic" foods again, but I couldn't help myself! I went ape shiz. My mouth was watering with anticipation! Oh it was a good day.
So, after concluding a whole body cleanse, people have been asking me if I feel any different. And I do! I feel great. I feel more energetic, less foggy headed, etc. I feel like I've been treating my body like a temple for two weeks, because that's exactly what I did. It's a weird feeling though. I took such careful care with what I was eating, that now that I can have whatever I like again, I feel gross eating only junk and bad foods. So, I am going to try very hard to eat more fruit, drink more water, and in general, be smarter with my meals. I need to stop some of the things I do in my day to day life. I need change. People are afraid of change, myself included, but change could be a good thing. In this case, it would definately be a good thing. I'd like to learn more about nutrition, start going to the gym, and creating a new lifestyle for myself. Easier said than done though right? It takes a lot of self courage and motivation for this kind of thing, and I can find both of these things difficult to do myself, but completing this two week cleanse without cheating or breaking it, I've proven to myself that I can do something if I put my mind to it. Be a leader for yourself, not a follower of others.
